Reikan FoCal - FoCal Labs

FoCal Labs

We wanted to have a way of sharing pre-release features with more advanced and inquisitive FoCal users so we've introduced FoCal Labs. By enabling an option in the preferences, FoCal Pro users can try out new features.

Things to know before you start

  • FoCal Labs is available for FoCal Pro users only.
  • FoCal Labs really is for more advanced users.
  • We don't provide support for FoCal Labs features, no promises they will be kept or further developed.
  • If you've got any feedback, you can submit it through the Send Feeback button in the About window.
  • The features are not production ready, may be unstable, not work as expected or produce incorrect results.
  • Users should understand calibration and determine whether any particular results are useful or not.

The idea behind FoCal Labs is to release some cool features to users who want to play with them! We hope the features will work pretty well, we welcome you trying them out and giving feedback.

Enabling FoCal Labs

To enable FoCal Labs, open the Preferences window, choose the Advanced tab and tick the Enable FoCal Labs button at the bottom of the window. You'll need to restart FoCal and from there you should see the Labs features.

What's available at the moment?

Starting with release 2.1, we've enabled the Calibration Check tool. This is designed to be a quick and simple way of seeing whether your camera needs calibration or not. It's totally hands free for all cameras, and should provide a calibration result in about 30 seconds.
