Snapshots Demo Limitations
The free evaluation version of Snapshots is designed for two key purposes:
- To let you test your camera connection and ensure the full Snapshots app will work for you
- To explore the functionality of the Snapshots app with some demo data.
You can enable Premium features either by logging in with your FoCal Pro username/password, or by purchasing an in-app subscription to FoCal Snapshots Premium.
Testing with your camera
Before you subscribe to Snapshots Premium, it is critical that you test the free version with your camera.
There are many different camera adaptors and cables available – especially for Android devices – and while we test with a range of mobile devices, we cannot guarantee that camera communication will work with all configurations.
Therefore, you should connect your camera to your computer to ensure that you can capture a Snapshot (see Camera Connection for more information)
Demo Data
On the Home page, hit the Load Example Data button to create an example Snapshot, captured from a Nikon Z9. You can explore all the editing features of the app with this Snapshot.
Free-version Limitations
In the free version, you can capture a Snapshot from your camera to check that the data is transferred, with the following limitations:
- Only a few settings will be available to view/edit in the Settings Details page.
- Camera Monitoring is not available and will not be active
- You cannot apply Snapshots to a camera
The database of Snapshots is stored in temporarily for the free version, meaning that you can use all functionality – e.g. capturing multiple Snapshots, duplicating, deleting, renaming, editing settings etc – but the database will be lost when the app restarts (typically after not being used for a while, or if the device restarts).
Premium Features
With the Premium available, you will be able to enjoy the full feature set of Snapshots, including:
- Apply Snapshots back to your camera
- All supported camera settings will be available to edit
- Camera Monitoring mode will be available.
- All Snapshots save to your device, and you can backup and restore the complete Snapshot database to ensure your data is safe.
Enabling Premium features can be done in two ways:
- Log in with your FoCal Pro (Desktop) username and password. Note that you must be within your Included Updates Period (see FoCal Licensing Overview for further information).
- Purchase a FoCal Snapshots Premium subscription from within the app itself.
