What’s New in This Update

Welcome to FoCal 3.2 Maintenance Release 1 (MR1). This release is primarily to address an issue introduced by a change in macOS 12.3 which causes FoCal to shut down unexpectedly.

[Note that the public naming of this release is “FoCal 3.2”, but internally the version number is 3.4.x.x. This is intentional and not an error.]

Headline Features

The primary reason for this release is to address an issue which causes FoCal to suddenly shut down (disappear from the screen) after about 2 minutes of inactivity on macOS Monterey version 12.3.

The issue is caused by an unexpected and undocumented change introduced by Apple in macOS 12.3, and we have made changes in FoCal to handle this change.

There are also changed related to integration with FoCal IQ camera database, and some minor calculation bug fixes and improvements.

Known Issues

Note that Raw is not yet supported on the Z9 due to Nikon introducing a new raw compression format. This will be supported as soon as possible.

Windows Installer issue on older versions of Windows

If you are installing on a version of Windows up to Windows 10 September 2018 version, you may encounter an issue where the installer fails to complete.

This is due to internal certificates within Windows having expired – the solution is to run Windows Update on your computer and install all necessary updates. Reboot the machine and the installer should then complete successfully.
